DIY Holiday Serving Tray

4.12.17

This DIY literally costs $5. That is less than your Starbucks coffee.

"But Amanda, what can I use this for?" I hear you asking. Well, let me tell you:
  1. Coffee table decor
  2. Serving drinks
  3. Cheese/meat tray
  4. Bedside table organizer
  5. Breakfast in bed
  6. Dinner table centrepiece
See, there. So many reasons you have to try this DIY!

Supplies:
  • Plain serving tray (I bought mine for $1.50 at the dollar store!)
  • Mod Podge
  • Scrapbook paper (holiday-themed)
  • Matching acrylic paint
  • Paint sponges
  • Scissors
  • High-gloss finish (optional)

Step One:

Make sure you're serving tray is completely clean. Paint the edges of your tray with the paint you have selected. Let it dry. I had to do a couple of coats in order to get the solid colour I wanted.

Step Two:

Let your paint dry overnight (or at least a couple of hours). If you start handling the tray before it is completely dry, you will get fingerprints all over it.

Step Three:

Once dry, paint a coat of a nice high-gloss finish overtop. This step is  completely optional but I find it really finishes the tray!
