Banana Peanut Butter Pupcakes

17.8.17

Yesterday my baby girl turned 2! And by baby girl, I mean my puppy.

She is so precious, so I had to make her a birthday treat fit for a princess. My pup loved them! Hope yours does too.

Ingredients:

Cupcakes
  • 2 cups of oats (any oats should do except quick-cook oats)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda*
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 medium, very ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup shredded carrots
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
Icing
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
*Depending on the source, there is some conflicting information regarding feeding baking soda and baking powder to dogs. Luna's vet told us that it's fine in very small quantities (ex: in recipes) but could be dangerous if your dog got into a box and ate a bunch.

All ingredients in this recipe are safe for dogs but if you are feeling unsure about anything, it is always smart to do a bit of research!

Step One:

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin, or line with paper liners.

Step Two:

Stir the oats, baking soda, and baking powder in a large bowl until combined.

Step Three:

Add the rest of the ingredients and use a mixer to mix everything together.

Step Four:

Divide the batter between the prepared muffin tin cups, filling each cup no more than three-quarters of the way to the top.

Step Five:

Bake for 14 minutes or until the tops begin turning golden brown. Set aside to cool.

Step Six:

Whip together the Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and honey for the icing. Once the cupcakes are cool, top them with the icing and any special dog treats that your furry friend would like.

Enjoy! xo

PS. Just incase you want to see a picture of this cutie enjoying her pupcakes, here it is!

  1. My sister made your pupcakes, and I brought them to work thinking they were for humans. They are really lovely. Pupcakes ended up being the inspiration for my publisher's weekly column. We've added the recipe to the story with a link back. Thank you for helping make the pups in our office happy and inspiring others!
