Black Heart V-Day Bath Bombs

12.2.17

When you drop one of these bath bombs into the bath, you will be madly creeped out at first but when the flower petals float to the top and the entire bath turns a dark violet colour, you'll be in love. This is such a great DIY to use up those V-Day flowers you received (once they start to dry out and die).

If you're not digging the black colour, use any other colour of food colouring (or none at all). But, I promise you that the black colouring will not stain you or your bath tub!

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1/4 cup citric acid (I bought mine here)
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1/4 cup epsom salt
  • 3 teaspoons coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • a few drops of essential oil (or fragrance oil)
  • food colouring (optional)
  • flower petals *dried or fresh will work* (optional)
  • some sort of mold (I used a heart cupcake mold, but you can use a muffin tin, actual bath bomb molds, or whatever you have!)
Step One:

Mix dry ingredients (citric acid, baking soda, corn starch, and epsom salt) in a bowl.

Step Two:

Mix wet ingredients (coconut oil, water, essential oil, and food colouring) in a separate bowl. You can add the flower petals now.

Step Three:

Start to pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. This is the tricky part. POUR SLOWLY. Whisk as your pour. When the mixture becomes the consistency of wet sand, you can put it into your mold. Pack the mixture firmly into the mold.

*If you have mixed everything together and it is not wet enough, add a bit more water.

Step Four:

Let it sit overnight (I usually set it in the fridge or somewhere chilly)

Enjoy! xo

  8. As you can imagine if the slide is oak the rest of the bed is going to be and this increases the costs even further. For a full mahogany design of this nature you can expect to be paying in the region of a thousand at least if not substantially more. bunk bed with slide
