Broiled Grapefruit

We're right in the dead of winter but grapefruit is always a good idea. One of my newest obsessions is broiled grapefruit. Maybe this sounds a bit strange but if you're the type of person who finds grapefruit to be too bitter, or you even just want to switch it up, try this super simple recipe!


Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 grapefruit
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
*This recipe is really customizable. Sometimes I add vanilla, sliced banana, or sub in maple syrup.  Sometimes I'll top it with yogurt and/or granola. To make this more of a dessert, top with brown sugar and then ice cream. 

Step One:

Preheat your oven's broiler. Slice the grapefruit in half. Then cut around the fruit (where the fruit meets the rind) without cutting all the way through the rind. This will make it easier to eat with a spoon once it's cooked. (Sometimes I will also cut sections in the grapefruit as well to make it even easier to eat after)


Step Two:

Place the grapefruit halves on a cookie sheet, lined with parchment paper. Then top the grapefruit with the honey and cinnamon (or whatever topping you'd like). 



Step Three:

Place the grapefruits in the oven for about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on them though. Depending on your oven, the grapefruits could be done around 3 minutes.
